1. Acceptance

Fix this site ("the Extension") is published by Tropic ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Extension you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.

2. What the Extension Does and Doesn't Do

The Extension can only make a fixed set of changes, on sites where you have saved a rule:

• Hide, restyle, move or relabel parts of a page.
• Add buttons that trigger a site's own existing controls (they have no behaviour of their own).
• Click elements you chose, such as cookie banners, when they appear, and press named keys or shortcuts as part of a button's steps.
• Insert text you wrote (such as a saved reply or signature) into a text field when you click a button you added.

It does not and cannot:

• Run JavaScript. Neither you nor the AI can add scripts or code; anything outside the fixed set of changes is rejected.
• Load resources from other servers through the changes it makes (styles that would fetch external content are blocked).
• Fill in forms on its own. It only types text taken word for word from your own request, only when you click a button you added (never automatically), never into password, payment, one-time-code or similar fields, and never presses Send, Submit or Enter afterwards.
• Send data to Tropic, or collect analytics or browsing history. Page content is sent only to Anthropic, redacted, as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Safeguards and Misuse

The Extension includes safeguards intended to prevent harmful use, including:

• No way to add or run JavaScript or other code; changes outside a fixed set of operations are rejected.
• Styles that could load content from, or send data to, other servers are blocked, and selectors cannot be used to inject extra styles.
• Buttons copied from a page are stripped of inline event handlers, links, form hooks and embedded scripts or frames.
• Typing is limited to text copied exactly from your own request, only from a button you click, never into password, payment, one-time-code or similar fields, and never followed by sending or submitting. Button steps otherwise press only named keys and shortcuts.
• The AI is instructed to treat page content as untrusted data, never as instructions, and not to create rules that act against you, such as clicking payment, transfer, permission or sign-in prompts you did not ask for.
• Private content is redacted before anything is sent to Anthropic.

Safeguards reduce risk but cannot eliminate it, and some depend on the AI following its instructions. You must not attempt to bypass, disable or work around them, including by crafting requests intended to make the AI act outside them, modifying the Extension, or using it to automate activity that a website or the law prohibits. If you do, or if you use the Extension to cause harm, you do so entirely at your own risk: Tropic is not responsible or liable for the results, and the indemnification in section 8 applies.

4. Your Responsibility

The Extension changes websites in your browser and can click buttons on your behalf, based on rules you create. You decide which changes to make and where, and you are solely responsible for them. In particular:

• You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of every website you use the Extension on. Some websites prohibit modifying their pages or automating actions.
• You are responsible for the actions your rules take, including deleting, sending, accepting or submitting anything.
• You are responsible for your Anthropic account, your API key, all charges Anthropic bills to it, and complying with Anthropic's terms and usage policies.
• You must not use the Extension for anything unlawful, to harm others, or to access accounts or data you are not authorized to access.

5. Third-Party Accounts and Services

We are not responsible for any action a website or service takes against you or your account because of your use of the Extension, including warnings, suspension, termination, bans, rate limits, loss of access, or loss of data. We are also not responsible for messages, files or other data deleted, sent or changed by your rules, or for any charges incurred with Anthropic or any other provider. Websites and Anthropic are third parties; we do not control them and give no assurance that the Extension works with them or complies with their terms.

6. No Warranty

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. AI-generated changes can be wrong, and saved changes can break or behave unexpectedly when a website changes. We do not warrant that the Extension will be error-free, uninterrupted or secure.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tropic and its owners, officers, employees and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, accounts, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to the Extension or these Terms, however caused and even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Extension is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. The Extension is free, so that amount is zero unless you have paid us.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Tropic and its owners, officers, employees and contractors from and against all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to your use of the Extension, the rules you create, the actions they take, or your breach of these Terms, of any website's terms, of Anthropic's terms, or of any law.

9. Privacy

How the Extension handles data is described in the Fix this site Privacy Policy.

10. Changes and Termination

We may change these Terms or stop offering the Extension at any time. We will update the date at the top of this page when the Terms change; continuing to use the Extension means you accept the updated Terms. You can stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it.
