Fix this site Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Fix this site is a Chrome extension published by Tropic. It lets you change how websites look and behave by describing the change in plain English. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

1. What Is Stored on Your Device

  • Your Claude API key.
  • The changes ("rules") you have saved for each website.
  • Any text you have typed in the extension popup but not yet applied.

This data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage. It is never sent to Tropic. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.

2. What Is Sent, and to Whom

Only when you click Apply, the extension sends the following to Anthropic's Claude API (api.anthropic.com) so Claude can work out the change you asked for:

  • Your request text.
  • The address of the current page, without query strings or fragments.
  • A simplified copy of the page's structure and on-screen labels.
  • Your existing saved rules for that site.
  • Your API key, to authenticate the request.

Requests are made with your own API key, under your own account with Anthropic. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

3. Redaction

Before anything is sent, the extension removes or replaces private content:

  • Text typed into input boxes, text areas and editable fields is never included.
  • Content such as email rows, message bodies and articles is replaced with placeholders.
  • Email addresses and numbers are replaced with placeholders.
  • The page title is removed.

Redaction is automatic and best effort, so some personal information visible on the page (for example names in menus or sidebars) may still be included.

4. What Tropic Collects

Nothing. The extension does not talk to Tropic servers, and has no analytics or tracking. Tropic never receives your data.

5. Data Use

Data is used only to apply the changes you request. It is not sold, not used for advertising, not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending, and not transferred for any purpose other than the extension's single purpose.

6. Automatic Actions

Rules you create can hide, restyle, move or relabel page elements, and can click buttons on your behalf (for example accepting or rejecting cookie banners). These actions happen only on sites where you have saved a rule. You can turn rules off or remove them at any time from the extension popup.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
